Got my girlfriend to break up with me over finances

I’m a software engineer at 28 while she is studying biology at a university at 24. We’ve been together for 5 years and she was my highschool sweetheart. I thought we were going to get married eventually so I started talking about finances with her recently. I make a little over 200k a year while she makes 40k in her part time job and her parents give her another 40k on top of that. We both have around 100k in savings. <br><br>I want her to get a high paying job after she graduates but her dream is to work in a lab for minimum wage earning 50k a year. I don’t think it’ll be enough to support us even with my salary if we want kids and a decent house. I want to live in the city and she in a small town outside the city. My compromise was to live in suburbs but she doesn’t want to. We had a big fight and she broke up with me. But I think she’s being irresponsible.
