Why do so many people buy into the so called "beauty standards"?

Hello everyone, I'm a male and I'm a big fan of this sub! So firstly I just wanted to start off and say that I absolutely love chubby women. I find them so attractive and just... wow! I have no idea why but all my life I have just been drawn to chubby women. I find myself trying to switch my eyes to the most beautiful chubby women I see in public more than any others. Every time I see one I just can't help but look at them more intensely. I really don't know why I feel this way, but I just do.<br><br>Anyway, on to my question. Why do so many people buy into the whole "beauty standards" thing? It seems like almost everyone is somehow obsessed with the idea of being thin and having no fat at all. People put themselves through so much pain just to look as 'perfect' as they can so they can 'fit in'. It's such a strange concept to me for some reason... I don't get it.
