[33 M] When my son comes into the house, he now goes to his room, locks the door and stays in there all day. Any ideas why he's been acting like this?

His teacher told my wife and I that he is neutral at school, he doesn't seem to like going to class and just stays outside all the time.

He's been home from school and in his room all day. He had been sleeping alot, and he barely eats. It's like he changed overnight. He used to be a very smart and well rounded guy, he was learning Spanish, he's a great piano player and he's a genius at school, he's a very hard worker and he's a very good communicator with us and everyone.

We confronted him and he said that he's been feeling sad and upset for no reason. We asked him if everything was okay at school and he said that he's just depressed. He said he didn't want to leave his room and he didn't want to be social with people. He didn't want to interact with his friends and family. He just wanted to stay away from everyone.

We tried to communicate with him and understand what he's going through. We asked him if he needed help and if he wanted to talk to someone. He said no and he just wanted to be left alone.

My wife and I were worried about him and we didn't know what to do. We didn't want to push him away, but we also didn't want to leave him alone. We decided to give him space and time to figure things out. We hoped that he would come to us when he was ready to talk.

We were patient and understanding. We gave him the space he needed and we waited for him to come to us. We didn't push him to talk or to do things he didn't want to do. We just waited and hoped that he would get better.

After a while, he started to come out of his room. He started to interact with us again and he even started playing the piano. He seemed happy and he seemed to be getting better. We were relieved and we were happy to see him happy again.
