So I've successfully killed my main project, and I'm working on something entirely unrelated.<br><br>What's a story you've been working on, in more or less secrecy, that you love more than your main project?<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>I'll go first:<br><br>The Pure Land of All Praise is a relatively modern nation located in the heart of a post-apocalyptic wasteland. The Pure Land is a nation of absolute peace and harmony. They have no violence. They have no crime. They have no despair.<br><br>Mental illness doesn't exist in the Pure Land. Nobody in the Pure Land is sad. Nobody is unhappy. Nobody feels anything negative. Everything is perfect.<br><br>The reason for this is simple: the Pure Land is ruled by an enigmatic figure known as the Emissary.<br><br>Whoever the Emissary is, or even what the Emissary is, is unknown, as they have never been seen in public. All anyone knows about the Emissary is that they are the leader of the Pure Land, and owe to the Emissary, the Pure Land is perfect.<br><br>What's more, the Pure Land is self-sufficient. They grow all their own food. They harvest all their own water. They build their own infrastructure. They have access to limitless energy. They have access to limitless clean water. They have access to limitless food. They are so efficient, that nobody worries about money.<br><br>But the Emissary intervenes in this.<br><br>Regardless of what they do, people are paid.<br><br>A student who goes to school and does well is paid. A child who reads their book is paid. An artist who draws a picture is paid. A musician who learns a complex piece is paid. A worker who works in a job is paid. A soldier who enlists is paid. An athlete who goes to the gym is paid. A researcher who studies is paid. An academic who publishes a paper is paid. A scientist who does a successfully experiment is paid. A cook who cooks a delicious meal is paid. A farmer who harvests their own crops is paid. A fisherman who fishes is paid. A beekeeper who harvests honey is paid. A builder who constructs a house is paid. An engineer who designs a new device is paid. A lawyer who wins a case is paid. A judge who makes a fair judgment is paid. A doctor who heals a patient is paid. A nurse who helps a patient is paid. A police officer who helps a civilian is paid. A soldier who helps a civilian is paid. A firefighter who puts out a fire is paid. A paramedic who saves someone is paid. Everyone in the Pure Land is paid, whether or not they do anything.<br><br>And the best part?<br><br>There is no tax. There are no taxes.<br><br>Everyone in the Pure Land is paid, and nobody needs to pay tax.<br><br>The Emissary only has one rule, and that is: everyone must be happy.<br><br>In terms of the outside world, the Pure Land is a neutral nation. They do not intervene in the outside world. They do not colonise. They do not invade. They do not help. They do not watch. All they do is exist. All they do is be there.<br><br>No nation has ever invaded the Pure Land. No nation has ever attacked the Pure Land. No nation has ever blockaded the Pure Land. No nation has ever hurt the Pure Land.<br><br>No nation has ever helped the Pure Land. No nation has ever looked at the Pure Land. No nation has ever noticed the Pure Land.<br><br>The Pure Land is unknown to the outside world. The Pure Land is a secret.
