What's the best way to write a scene involving roleplay?

I'm writing a fantasy novel, something that I've been working on for a while now. This scene is something I've wanted to include for some time and I've finally reached a point in the story where I can include it. After some deliberation and research, I'm coming up to the end of the scene. It's probably around three thousand words so far, and I expect to add another thousand or so.

The scene I'm including is a roleplay scene between a knight and a party guest. After the knight gets drunk and then stumbles and almost falls, the party guest catches him and then sends him off to bed. The guest then comes across the knight and the two then agree to roleplay a scene where the knight is a blacksmith. The guest is playing the role of a merchant, looking to source some metal for a musical instrument.

I understand that sometimes roleplay can be viewed as cringe. This scene is a key scene in the story as it gets across the knight's job as a blacksmith and his job as a knight. The scene is also a good chance to develop the party guest's character.

I've looked at examples of roleplay in both anime and webcomics and I think I understand the format. The knight talks as if he is a blacksmith, as if he is at his forge and the guest is a merchant. I've read some examples where there is a difference between the setting and the characters and the roleplay that is being acted out, and I've tried to put that in the scene I'm currently writing. I'm fairly pleased with the start of the scene, as it sets out what the characters are roleplaying as and I think it's obvious what job the guest is playing and the setting. I'm not as sure about how to proceed with the scene.
