What is the best 9mm for home defense?

I am looking into my home defense weapon options and I was wondering what is the best 9mm pistol for home defense. (i have a shotgun but that is not very practical to have in a nightstand). <br>I am looking for a weapon that is most likely to stop a home invader, and also the least likely to go through my drywall and hurt a family member on the other side of a wall. I currently have a DPMS glock but I don't really like it because of the full size pistol in a compact frame. I am leaning towards a Glock 19 but I have also heard good things about the Sig M18. What are your thoughts? <br><br>Edit: I have never actually shot a pistol so I am going to go get training and rent a few weapons before committing to anything. I also realize there are many types of ammunition which I will also be looking into.
