CMV: The most tragic part about Kanye West is that he can't understand how much better his life would be if he got treatment for his bipolar disorder.

Kanye West is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, fashion designer, and entrepreneur. Throughout his life he has been a bright light in the artistic world. The guy is flat out talented in so many different areas, and everyone can agree on that. And with that talent has come ever-lasting fame, wealth, and success. But alongside this talent has been signs of bipolar disorder his whole life. Despite being diagnosed in 2008, West has gone on and off his medication, often with disastrous results. Kanye has gone from being that fun rapper who occasionally did wacky shit, to a full-blown far-right conspiracy theorist who has openly supported Trump, Hilter, and has even called for a ban on abortion. The guy just ran for president and got over 60k votes in some states. Along with this has been an absolute collapse in the quality of his music.

And throughout his entire life, he has millions of yes-men surrounding him and telling him everything he does is perfect. Beginners piano music? Like "Jesus is King"? That's "brave" and "experimental" and deserves critical acclaim. Telling Joe Rogan to call him "Jesus"? No problem, it's all fun and games. But when you take this lack of criticism into account, alongside the fact that Kanye refuses to get treatment, and it's easy to see why he is in such a different place now. He's going through a divorce, most of his friends don't even talk to him anymore, and he's alienated most of his fanbase. It's a tragic collapse. But what Kanye needs most is help, and he won't get it ever with the people around him. He's an example of what happens when you refuse to take care of your mental health, and surround yourself with yes-men. He's an artistic genius who most likely won't get the happy ending he deserves.

***

Now you may believe that Kanye doesn't need help, that he's actually a genius ever step of the way, and that all of the criticism against him is part of some grand scheme to take him down. Maybe you believe that he's being shadow-banned, or whatever. Maybe you think he actually does need help for a mental illness other than bipolar disorder. Or maybe you think ever since his mom died he was actually a different guy and this is all a result of that. I'm willing to listen to ever viewpoint and have a discussion. But please, stay civil.

Edit: Alright so this blew up. I'm going to try and go through some of the higher voted comments and reply to as many as I can. And I'll probably stop after that. Thanks for the gold.
