CMV: The world would be an incredibly better place if every politician was convicted of a crime requiring prison time once they leave office.

I think the title pretty much explains it. The politicians would have to be convicted of at least a crime that requires 1 year or more in prison. This would most likely come after they have an opportunity to finish their political career. The prison time would come after they leave office. The prison time could most likely be spent in private prisons, at taxpayer expense. <br><br>Any politician who has engaged in a political corruption offense that is widespread most likely rest on the fact that they are not most likely to be sanctioned for a crime. Giving them a year or more in prison after they leave office would be sending a strong message that this is not the case and that their actions can be sanctioned.<br><br>&#x200B;<br><br>Edit: Thank you strangers on the internet for over 1000 upvotes.
