Do cops ever get real training using real firearms?

I have to do “training” for my job, where we shoot plastic guns filled with compressed air. It’s completely useless, the plastic guns do nothing to simulate how a real firearm functions, even if we do even get to “kill” people with them even if real firearms training even allows that. We mostly just pretend to shoot them, shout commands, all that. I am a police officer.
