Why do you adults work your ass off to afford a big house and expensive things?

I (15yro) don’t get it.<br><br>Edit: Wow this got a lot more attention than I thought it would. Thank you for the replies, I appreciate all of them. I can see why some people want to live the way they do, but I still don’t agree with it.
