My teacher said I should commit suicide because I stole an essay. Can someone help me write a formal letter to him?

I'm a Sophomore in high school and I did something very stupid. Yesterday I turned in an essay I didn't write myself. I really don't even know why I did it. I found a really well-written essay on a website, and then I changed some of the words and sentences to make it sound like it was me who wrote it. My teacher is a very strict man, and I already knew he would be very angry at me if he caught me. And he did, he caught me and gave me a "Zero" on the assignment and then he scolded me for over an hour. I admitted I stole the essay and apologized, and I told him the site where I got it from.

What really upset me is my teacher said to me "If I were you, I would commit suicide." I know he was just joking and didn't mean it, but this was honestly very hurtful and it made me feel very bad. I asked my parents if I should just drop the class, but they said no, that I have to stay in it and finish it. I don't know what to do.

Can someone please help me write a letter to him, or if someone can write one for me, that would be great. It's supposed to be a formal letter, or whatever you call it. I want to tell him how I feel and how hurt his words made me, and how I'm sorry for my mistake and that it won't happen again.

I don't know how to word it and that's why I'm asking for help. Thank you very much.
