Am I really supporting a drug habit if I buy food from a panhandler?

I once read that if you give a homeless person money, you are probably supporting a drug habit, so it is better to buy them food or give them some other gift if you want to help them. <br><br>If you buy them food, you are giving them money that they can use for a meal, which means they can use what they would have spent for food on something else, like a drug habit. <br><br>So what can you do to help homeless people?
