AITA for walking out of the theatre with my boyfriend/husband because my friend called me a bitch?

I went to highschool with Alex and we were friends for like 4 years. She was a tough girl, the cheerleader type with lots of tude. She even got in a fight with this girl because the girl liked the guy Alex liked, she called the girl a bitch and punched her in the face in front of like 100s of people. (Talk about the cheerleader movie remade). Long story short, the girl ended up transferring schools because the cheerleading squad and everyone on the team backed Alex up.<br><br>Anyway, we are 30 now and we've all moved on with our lives. Alex's mom and my mom are sisters. Because of the family tie though, we are still the only friends we have. When we are around each other, it feels like 15 yrs ago again and we are still in highschool. <br><br>I got married the other year and when I told Alex, she was happy for me. invited her to the wedding. She ended up not going. She said she was busy and didn't have the funds, I didn't mind. I only invited her because I knew her mom would wonder why I didn't invite her, I invited her more out of obligation and because she is related to me than because I wanted her invited.<br><br>Alex said the night before that she's never met my husband before but she will meet him tonight, but she never showed up. I called her and she said she didn't feel like going, she was too stressed out with work and her boyfriend. <br><br>Anyway, two months later, we are in the same town. My husband is in the area for work and he asked me to come with him. I said why not. I call up Alex and she was very surprised that I was in town, I could tell she thought I was lying about the invite. I finally met her bf and she was excited that I got married. She bragged about how she got two promotions, new car, new job, etc.<br><br>After that night, we met a few more times. I met more of her friends and they all seemed really nice. <br><br>Months later, I invited her out to LA because the two of us got tickets to see two of our favorite singers/bands from the 80s. I brag to her about two of my co-workers inviting me out to the show and how she is taking me out to lunch at a nice Italian place in a plaza. She's never been to this plaza before, in fact, she has never even been to LA. I said it doesn't matter, we can meet in this plaza and I'll take you to the Italian restaurant and we will have lunch, invited her to the show and go to a bar. She says I finally get to meet your husband, I said I'm not bringing him because it's girls night out. <br><br>I meet her at the plaza and she asks me where are we going for lunch? I said look, I can either take you to the Italian restaurant I invited you too or we can go to this cafe instead, they have a really good sourdough sandwich and a fruit tart if you want to try the food in the city. She said Massive bitch, what the hell is a sourdough? and is that like a homosexual restaurant? <br><br>I said that isn't a homosexual restaurant, and I'm just inviting you to lunch, if you don't like it, then we can just go to the Italian restaurant like I invited you too. She's like NO BITCH, JUST TAKE ME TO THE ITALIAN RESTAURANT. I look at her like WTF?<br><br>She starts calling me names and bragging about how much money she makes and she's done better than me. I invited you out to lunch, she says, NO invited MYSELF out to lunch at YOUR EXPENSE.<br><br>I was mad but invited her anyway. I took her to the Italian restaurant and bragged about how much income I make and expensive my house is and my car. She's like REALLY? How did you afford all that? Because you are living with your boyfriend/husband for free, if I knew you were living with your BF the whole time, I would have never bragged about my income. <br><br>So two months later, she invited me out to go see The Little Mermaid with her. I said sure, but I am bringing my BF with me. She's like OK, but just remember, he invited HIMSELF out and Massive bitch, invited MYSELF out to a show at YOUR EXPENSE. <br><br>I invited her the Little Mermaid, Massive bitch, you invited YOURSELF to see the Little Mermaid. <br><br>We went anyway and had a good time. <br><br>AITA for walking out on Alex in LA because she called me a bitch?
