CMV: The "Diversity" movement is bull and is not used for what it was originally intended for.

\-------------

The diversity movement is used for political and social points, I don't think it is used for what it was originally intended for. I think this because more often than not people just throw out the word without thinking about the subject they are referencing. I'm not saying everyone uses it for political and social points, but the majority of people I've seen use it care more about the "headcount" than the actual diversity of belief. What I mean by this is for example in a recent Chambers post in this sub (I can't find it right now) where a comment said "The people that comment here seem to be overwhelmingly white and American." and this was a comment semi-related to the topic but more about the diversity of the commentors on this sub. I think that's a good example of what I mean. Another example is the recent news about whether nfl players should stand for the national anthem or not. This also references the diversity of belief or more accurately whether nfl players should be "allowed" to express their beliefs in the first place. It's hard to explain what I mean by headcount but essentially its when people try to change the topic from what the discussion is about to whether the people discussing it are black or white. I'll stop here because I don't want to ramble about nfl players.

\-------------

\*Edit\* Oh my gosh, I just woke up and Wow thanks for all the upvotes!!!

\*EDIT\* I am not trying to say "diversity" is bad in of itself, I am trying to say that I think a lot of people abuse the word for their own belief systems to try to seem like they're doing something for the cause of diversity
