I know everyone on this sub has their reasons for wanting Trump to be removed from office, but with all this news coming out about these deportations, I want to share my story.

I'm sure some of you may have heard this kind of story before, but my parents were deported when I was still a toddler. They came into this country immigrating from El Salvador and they weren't able to obtain their legal documents. They got married, had me, and then suddenly I was separated from my parents. I was lucky enough to have an aunt from my moms side who was a legal citizen and was able to take me in. I was raised by her and I still can't be more grateful to have her in my life.

As for my parents, I was only able to get back to El Salvador when I was 7 years old. I live in the US, but I knew I had to go back to the country to be with my parents. I got to spend roughly 3 years with them before I had to return back to the US. They knew that they didn't have the means to raise me over there and I knew that I had to be back in the US to get a good education. My aunt got me back and I spent some time with her until I was able to get my own apartment and now I'm living on my own. It's still hard to think about considering I'm getting ready to graduate college.

Going back to my parents, I was 7 years old when I met my mom and 10 years old when I met my dad. I know I got to spend roughly 3 years with them but I know I missed out on a lot because I live in the US and they're in El Salvador. It got to the point where I had to make multiple trips to see them. I'm 25 now and I've been able to spend some time with them through the years. It's still hard seeing them now though because they're getting older and I know I have to stay in the US to make a better future for myself. The current administration hasn't made it any easier for me to see them. I live with the experience of having my parents deported and now I live with the fear of their current situation.

I can't imagine what these families from Central America are going through now. They're already facing deportation and are separated from their kids. I knew I was lucky to have my aunt to take me in but it's not the same as being with your parents. These kids live with the idea of seeing their parents taken away from them and are experience the reality that I once had.
