Wow… I mean what even is this. The world is moving so fast. It’s hard to believe… I don’t remember ever, even remotely, seeing days like this. Never mind the last three days in a row.

I’m 52, I’ve been alive for an incredibly blessed time. I remember the days of stories being told by the ones of past days being able to play hard and wrestle outside, because there weren’t any cars driving past. I’m not that old but it’s a long way from that. I remember the days of one channel TV and the worst thing a kid would have to worry about was getting up early to get a spot by the TV because there were only two spots on the carpet that had full view without the couch in the way. The most popular kids were the first up in the morning.

There was that time, up in the mountains in the summer, picnicking by the stream and watching a herd of deer approach the stream… slowly. Then, suddenly, they all ran. The next thing we knew was a cowboy and his horse came into view. I don’t remember if he said howdy but it’s always how I remembered it. “Howdy there, folks.” I wonder how many times that boy got to play cowboy in the mountains.

I’ll tell you… I have been blessed. My eyes are wet just thinking about it. These are dark days but they will pass and I wonder what stories our grandkids will be able to tell. I wonder if the tales of our stories will be days of, “remember when you didn’t have to pay for food? No, there was plenty of food (now you can work up to 80 hours a week and still not afford it). I remember there were days you only had to work 40, for the same pay you get for 80, today. You were paid for 40 and the government made it a rule that you only worked 40. Companies were lined up to hire you but we were working so few hours that many jobs were created, so many that they couldn’t fill them fast enough. That’s why they gave us free money because there was so much money and so few jobs.” Or, “Yep, back then if you got sick, they’d fix it. Hell, some places would even give you all the food you could eat and a place to stay.” Or, “back when the oceans were full of sea life and fish were so plentiful they were ableto feed the world. Now, they are so endangered, we have to use a water_TOKEN and if we run out water_TOKENs, we simply starve.”

Front row seats, folks. I wish I was born 100 years ago. I wish I could’ve been born 100 years from now. Who knows, maybe I was. Maybe I’m just living that life in a simulation and this is just a dream for entertainment.

Wow… What a wild ride.
