Everyone is confused as to why Russia is seen as the big bad and evil bully here. The reason why is simple: Russia is trying to blackmail Europe and starve millions of people in Africa by stopping food shipments out of Ukraine or the Black Sea.

Until recently, Ukraine was the #5 exporter of Wheat in the world, responsible for about 3% of the world's wheat and 10% of the world's corn.

Even with the war, Ukraine was able to still hold on to its titled as the world's #5 exporter of wheat with Russia being the world's #1 exporter of wheat. And since Russia controls the Black Sea, they can effectively block Ukraine from sending Wheat and other grains to the rest of the world.

Russia also has a long history of weaponizing food and natural gas supplies. Such as in 2006 when Russia cut off all natural gas supplies to Ukraine, 2009 when Russia cut off all natural gas supplies to Ukraine again, and 2022 when Russia cut off all natural gas supplies to Europe.

This is the reason why the United States, Canada, Australia, the UK, and other countries are not recognizing the Russian annexation of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, or Zaporizhzhia. Ukraine is a sovereign and independent nation and Russia just wants to bully and blackmail Ukraine and Europe.

Edit: the reason why Russia's pull out of the Black Sea grain deal won't cause a global food crisis is simple: Ukraine's grain harvest this year was horrible.

"It's a difficult year, an unlucky one. (The situation with grain) will be very severe this year," Roman Slaston, head of the Ukrainian state-run grain trader, said. Slaston said that Ukraine would not be able to meet its export target for corn because of weather-related crop losses and would also struggle to hit the wheat target.

Ukraine's 2023 corn crop was seen at 4 million tonnes, well below typical annual production of 30 to 40 million tonnes, and wheat at 14.5 million tonnes against 20.5 million tonnes harvested in 2022. Slaston said that Ukraine would not be able to meet its export target for corn because of weather-related crop losses and would also struggle to hit the wheat target.

Edit2: Russia is going to block Ukraine and Moldova from joining the EU?

>Putin tells EU chief Russian strikes on Ukraine and Moldova would be fully justified if either country joined EU and allowed US to deploy nuclear arms and missile defence systems there

This is not the world I want to live in.
