Link between anti-abortion and anti-contraception

The link between anti-abortion and anti-contraception is often something that pro-choice people have a hard time understanding. I have been wrong for a long time (and still am) about the motivations behind anti-abortionism. A big part of what has become increasingly clear to me is that it’s not really a matter of the “rights of an unborn baby” or whatever, it’s sometimes that, but predominantly it’s an issue of anti-women, anti-sex. The anti-abortion movement is largely driven by sexism and anti-sexism, with some anti-women and anti-sex people being driven by religion as well. It’s about controlling women and restricting their access to sex. A big part of what has been lost in all this is that abortion is birth control. A huge percentage of women who get abortions aren’t even regular birth control users. They do something reckless or forget to use protection and end up pregnant. Then they are seeking abortion as a means of birth control, to continue living their lives as they had before, not to end the life of a developing baby. I guess I just wasn’t aware before how much anti-abortionism was really just a manifestation of anti-sexism in general and that the belief that women deserve to suffer for having sex is very widespread.
