So i just got back from visiting my wife's family in Kenya. I'd never been to Africa before, so I didn't know what to expect.

I enjoyed the first two days as i was staying in Nairobi, so I got to explore the city and learn about its history. We visited the national museum and that really was a treat. The next day we visited the tall building in the city to get a good view, and the giraffe center which was a great experience. I'd never seen a giraffe up close before, so I learned how they eat and drink, which was cool. The next day we drove to a village, and the road conditions were very poor. I thought my back was gonna break on the way there. We had to stop to fix the car two times, which i definitely wasn't used to. As i said, I was staying with my wife's family, and they didn't have running water or electricity at their home. We used flashlights, and i had to shower by pouring cold water on myself, which was a shock to the system. During the day i had to help with the animals, so i had to feed the cows and the goats, and also go fetch water from the well in a nearby village which definitely made me appreciate the access to resources i have in my home country. The villagers were very friendly though. The children followed us everywhere and were very curious about my skin and eyes. My wife had warned me about this beforehand, which helped a lot. I also learned some basic words in their local dialect to show respect.

So overall, it was a good experience, but very eye opening. I definitely appreciate the comforts of my home a lot more now.
