My American friends, this is your TM Franz from Germany. I never care about what others pack for their travels, but my last 2 trips have made me unsafe about this. Please pack your luggage properly!

Hello my friends, this is Franz from Germany, the guy who posts the travel reports about the coast and mountains of Germany or other European countries.

Since I have never cared about the luggage of other passengers, I have noticed something strange during my last 2 flights that has made me unsafe. I was flying in Business/First Class (I know... it is not that what it used to be anymore!) and 3 out of my 8 flights were perfect but in 5 I felt like in danger.

Now you might wonder what I mean and I will explain it to you with examples:

1. There was a traveler who had packed his carry on luggage in perfect condition in the bins above the seats. But that was not all. He tried to put 2 big luggage in the bin above the passengers and they did not fit! And this guy decided to put it in the bin with his two feet. He was pushing that thing in the bin so hard while there were already 4 luggage in there. You cannot imagine how unsafe I felt with that thing above my head.... it was not the only situation though.

2. There was another guy who wanted to put his luggage in the bin above seat 2B. But it also did not fit. So he put his feet on the bin and tried to push it again and again but in vain. So he decided to put it in the bin above seat 26A where there was only one bag but it did not fit again. So he had to take it out of his hands and put it on the ground... But that thing fell on my head and injured my ear. I will have a hearing loss for 3 months. The guy did not even apologize for it and just walked away. I complained but the flight attendants were like ?I am sooooorryyyy, but you can only put it in the bins above or below the seats or you can ask someone to help you.? It is still in my mind how they were that relaxed...

In the end, my question is: how do you pack your luggage for your travels? Do you put some heavy stuff in there? Do you put the heavy stuff only on the bottom of your luggage?

Edit: Wow. I did not expect this post to get so many upvotes ? I answered many questions in the comments but read this before you ask a question:

1- There were big difference between the Business Class in the American Airlines and Lufthansa flights.

2- I do not know the weight of the luggage. I was only sharing my experiences but many of you told me that there is a maximum weight for the carry on luggage... And yes, I felt like in danger. It is not normal to throw heavy things above the heads of others and the flight attendants should be more careful about this. It is not normal to be so relaxed about this. I complained about this in 2 different airlines but there was no difference...

3- I pack my luggage in a normal way but I have never felt in danger because of the other passengers. Yes, there are probably a lot of Americans who pack their luggage in the same way as you guys but 5 out of my 8 flights were like that...

4- I did not ask anyone to change their culture. I just wanted to know how you guys pack your luggage and got inspired by the experiences. I have learned a lot from this conversation.
