"Mental Health Awareness" is fucking dumb

I'm so sick of seeing fucking shoehorned "mental health-awareness" plotlines in TV shows designed for children, I'm sick of brands trying to attach themselves to this issue so that you'll buy their products. If you truly cared about "mental health awareness" you would just give money to institutions that help treat said problems instead of trying to shoehorn it into your plastic water-bottle brand.

Creatives just shoehorn in some character who's always like "Uh guys did you know I'm depressed?" and the plot goes out of its way to make sure the audience knows that depression is bad but that it can also be cured really easily if you just... talk to your friends about it. And the plot will just throw in some fucking shoehorned lines that the creators saw from some mental health chambers post like "Did you know your brain lies to you? It's not as bad as you think it is." and then the character will go "Really?" and the episode will just end with them magically cured because they shared their struggles with some friend.

What the fuck does that achieve? Why did AMC's "The Walking Dead" of all shows have an entire Plot Arc centered around a character's depression? In that show of all places. Who is that supposed to help? What the fuck is the audience supposed to take away from this? It's nothing but a marketing device designed to make you like a character. It's so fucking dumb.
