How do you think the holiday season will affect frugal living?

I am wondering what you all think the holiday season will bring for frugal living.

men and women are not treated the same when it comes to frugal living. For instance I do my own cars, cook for myself and I play an instrument by myself. I am 40f. I had to learn to do a lot of things by myself. My partner is a SAHM of 2 boys. She is very crafty and does stuff by hand that most people won't do anymore. We think that a lot of the things that used to be deemed "feminine" are becoming popular again. A lot of people are going back to what would be deemed old-school feminine things like sewing, knitting and baking bread.

One of the things thatmen and women are starting to do again is learn how to change their oil, change tires and do other basic car repairs. Learning how to do things by yourself is a skill that a lot of people are going back to.

We are seeing a lot of advertisements for experiences rather than buying things. I believe a lot of the younger generations would rather spend money on experiences than material things. I think that a lot of people my age and younger are going to start going on camping trips, learn how to play an instrument or do something that gives them an experience rather than buying something.

I am a little worried about the prices of food. While a lot of people are starting small gardens, a lot of the prices of produce and meat are getting higher. I think this will affect not just frugal people but everyone. I am not sure if I agree with it but it would be a good idea to start preserving foods in jars if you can. Canned goods and freezing food helps but I believe that most of us will start thinking of preserving food.

I also think that a lot of people will go back to old-school hobbies like board games and stuff like that. It's already happening. A lot of us are going back to playing board games instead of playing video games. I personally love video games but I do think that a lot of people will go back to playing board games together. I wish that arcades would make a comeback as well.

I do think that a lot of people will start cooking at home. I personally do very little take out. I would rather eat at home and I also find that I am eating healthier. I think a lot of people will be cooking at home more.

What are your thoughts?
