Last night at 11:15 PM my first child, a baby boy, was born. He's very healthy and strong.

This morning, I resigned from my job of 5+ years. I've worked at a small company, and have been the sole software developer of a relatively small application that brings in a large revenue. I've been responsible for the development, maintenance, debugging, testing, and deployment. I'm good at what I do! I've put my heart into this project. I've received multiple bonuses in my time here for my outstanding service, and I know I'll be hard to replace based on the skill and detail, and quirks, and customizations I've added to this application.

I had a meeting with the CEO/Chairman today. I told him I'm resigning, effective 8 weeks from today. It was very difficult. I love the company. I love the people. I love the work. I love the commute (a walk through a nice park). But most of all, I love my new son, the future of our world, and I want to ensure he has a good one. One without strife because of his father's lack of passion and entrepreneurship. I turned down a very good offer to stay, and I'm sad to walk away from what has been so good to me.

But why am I doing this?

I'm doing this because I have an idea for an application. I'm doing this because I believe in the future of remote work. I believe the future of humans is to work remotely, and to work from anywhere. Imagine living in New York City, but having the ability to travel the world, whenever and wherever you please. One day, you wake up, and you're in Paris. And you're working! How? Remotely! And I have an idea to make this better, to push remote work forward.

I'm doing this because I want to build something of my own. I want to put my passion and energy into something that could provide a better future for my son.

I'm doing this because I want to build something that could change the world. I want to push remote work forward, and make the world a better place.

I'm doing this because I want to create jobs.

I'm doing this because I want to be my own boss. I want to build my own company. I want to be responsible for my own success.

I'm doing this because I want to make a difference.

So, with a seed investment of $200,000 and a full-time remote salary from a very good consulting job, I'm on my way. I'm hiring an engineer! I'm designing the product. I'm working on my pitch deck. I'm doing this!

I could fail. But, if I do, what was my life truly worth? What difference have I made? I want to make a difference. I want to make the world a better place, and I want to be able to provide for my son, to teach him the value of hard work and passion.

Edit: Thank you so much! I'm very good at software development. But I'll need to brush up on marketing, sales, and project management. I could never count on such wonderful support! Thank you!

Edit 2: I'm overwhelmed, but pleased, with the offers I've received for development of the application. Thank you!
