My (28M) wife (29F) keeps tying my boots after I've told her to keep her hands off of them. I tried to teach her a lesson and really hurt her feelings.

My wife has this habit of tying my boots after I'm done with them. I've always disliked having my footwear or my jeans or any of my stuff moved or touched once I'm done with it. I find it annoying to have to untie my boots the next time I have to wear them. It's been a constant issue with my wife even after I've asked her multiple times to not touch my boots after I'm done with them. <br><br>Everytime she does this I would untie them and keep them exactly where I kept them. I did this to show her that it's bothering me and that she needs to stop. But she just doesn't. So I thought of teaching her a lesson one day. The last time she did this, I didn't untie them. The next day when she had to use them, I gave them to her the way they were and she looked at me with almost tears in her eyes. I asked her what was wrong and she told me that I knew how much she hates having her stuff moved or touched and seeing me do that to her really hurt her feelings. I felt bad tbh when she put it that way. I never realized I was hurting her that much.<br><br>She's sitting in the other room right now looking frigid. I feel like I messed up. I want to make it right but I still feel like she needs to stop touching my boots. I feel guilty at the same time.<br><br>What do I do?
