When do you tip at a hotel?

A hotel I’m staying at for work only has a private parking garage with a pull up ticket and gate in front of it. The attendant will scan your ticket when you leave and you pay him directly in advance of leaving in cash. Is it generally acceptable to tip him for the “convenience” of taking cash payment?<br><br>I feel like in this type of situation the private garage should have a self pay station somewhere and is just looking for extra tips. <br><br>For a standard valet parking at a hotel, I would always tip.<br><br>Thanks!
