I was nearly kidnapped by a child abuser and managed to fight back

When I was 6, my mum took me to Kmart and was looking for an ironing board. This involved her looking around the whole store because half the time the signs don't make sense. Anyways, there was this man working there and he said hi to me and I said hi back. For context, I was a very friendly, outgoing kid, and was encouraged to be polite to adults, so I definitely didn't see this as anything unusual and neither did my mum. <br><br>He then asked me if I liked playing video games and I said yes. He said he had a Ps2 in the back, if I wanted to play a round while my mum was looking for something. Now, I'd never been left alone, but I didn't see anything wrong with it because I was with an adult. I didn't realise what was wrong with this picture, since I had been left with family friends before.<br><br>He led me to a back room behind the registers, and there was a TV set up with a Ps2, controllers and games. He said he'd play a round of this game with me, and I agreed. He ended up closing the door to the room, but I was already distracted by the fact that I was getting to play video games. <br><br>When he was sitting down with me, he started making comments about how cute I was and how I was so lucky to have a pretty face. I was so distracted by the game, and had no idea that this was what grooming looked like. He then tried to get closer to me, and I knew something was off, and I told him no. <br><br>I said that I didn't want to play anymore, I wanted to find my mother. He smiled and said I didn't want to do that. He said he had hidden me somewhere, so she wouldn't find me. He then said he had to take me somewhere, and he was going to lock the door, so no one could get in. <br><br>He showed me his name tag and said that no one would bother us because he was in charge. I knew this was wrong, but I didn't know why. But something in my stomach just told me to run. I stood up, and he stood up, but I was too fast. I ran out of the room and into the clothing racks, and hid behind them. <br><br>He was calling out for me, telling me to come back and that I had no where to go. I heard him walk past on the other side of the rack, so I crawled to the other side and looked to see if there was anyone else around. There was a lady restocking the shelves and I knew I definitely wasn't going to let this lady out of my site, I knew she was the only hope I had. <br><br>I crawled to the other side of the rack and stayed on the ground until she came back to me. I looked up at her and said, "Please don't leave me." She was very confused but promised me she wouldn't. I then told her what had happened. She asked me to describe what he looked like and I told her about his name tag. <br><br>She then took me to the front and told the other employee what had happened. They looked up his name and told me they had no employee under that name. They called the police and they found out he was a child abuser that was out on bail. He was arrested on the spot and charged with multiple counts of grooming and child abuse. <br><br>I can't imagine where I would be if I hadn't got away from him. I definitely wouldn't be on this app.
