Does anyone here wish for a “wide scale minimalist movement”?

The only way in which I can see the planet being saved is if the majority of the population adopts minimalist ways. We need to start living with less and stop buying crap we don’t need.

Companies will never stop producing plastic, we need to stop buying it. That’s the only way they will stop. Companies are not going to stop producing things that will sell. We can only stop buying.

We all in this sub are in the minority I believe. But if there was a massive minimalist movement, I think the conditions on the planet would change. Companies would not make things that don’t have a market.

I don’t believe that it’s companies that are the problem, it’s us the consumers. Because of a growing population and an estate of expanding economy, the conditions on the planet will not change unless we consumers change our habits.

Companies are there to make money, just like everybody else in their jobs. Companies are here to sell their products, not to protect the environment.

Companies will stop producing things that will stop selling. When we stop buying plastic products, then will they stop making plastic products.

I don’t think there is any other way.

I don’t think companies will stop producing plastic. They will only stop producing plastic when we stop buying plastic.

A lot of time, we blame companies for producing plastic. But if there wasn’t a market for plastic, they wouldn’t produce it?

I often see articles saying companies produce 2 million tons of plastic every year, but if they didn’t sell it to consumers, then they wouldn’t produce it.

It’s the same as all the fast fashion. Companies won’t stop producing cheap clothes because it sells. If people will buy it, then they will produce it.

I know in this sub we all tend to consume less of fast fashion. But the majority of people do continue to buy fast fashion. It’s the same as junk food. People are aware it’s not good for them, but they still continue to buy it.

I personally feel that most people don’t care in general. It’s very much a “every man for himself” mentality. Nobody cares about anybody else but their own families. The rich will continue to be selfish. Unless we consumers change our habits, there will be no change.
