When I was a teenager, Miller Lite and Bud Light were what people around me drank. When I was a little older, Yuengling was a cool beer around my area.

However, prior to prohibition, it seemed like there was a ton of different lagers and stuff. Coors and Yuengling apparently were the only two breweries to survive prohibition. But prior to that, you had all sorts of random beers being drank.

What the heck did the average person drink in ancient civilizations, or even just in the 1800s or something?

Also what % did these drinks have? I imagine they were all 1% or so, yeah?

The only "historical" data I have on what people were drinking is from my grandpa, who grew up in Pittsburgh in the 1930s. His dad was a steel worker, so his family was pretty poor. He says his dad would drink "malt" and said it tasted like apple juice. His dad said he would drink 15-20 bottles a day.
