I had to stay in a room at the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles, CA recently for work and I was expecting it to be creepy. The hotel used to be a homeless shelter / flophouse that was the residence of serial killers like the Night Stalker and the Golden State Killer. The hotel was also documented in the Netflix documentary "Crime Scene: Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel".

The room was very dirty and I found what looked like a splatter of blood on the bathroom wall. The room was infested with cockroaches. I didn't even sleep in the bed, I slept on the floor with a sheet and some pillows. I was creeped out from the moment I checked in until I left.
