This is a 1 on 1 conversation I had with a student that has a tendency to do work last minute. Keep in mind that everyone is unique and this might not be for everyone.

**Student**: Hey I procrastinate a lot and I do all my homework right before I have to give it in. A lot of times I do my homework right before class starts. How do I still get 100% on all my homework even if I do it last minute?

**Teacher**: That doesn’t sound like a good idea at all, but if you’re really set on doing this then this is what you should do.

Make sure you pay attention to everything your teacher does and says. You need to make sure you spend 100% of your attention on your teachers. Don’t look at your phone, don’t look at the clock, always participate in the class, etc. Always be on your toes. Take lots of notes and always ask questions.

Next, you need to teach yourself to memorize and process material at lightning speeds. Your teacher might give you a reading assignment for homework. You should be able to memorize everything about the materials assigned. Example: What is the plot? What are the conclusions of the reading? How does it tie into the next class? Why did the teacher assign this reading? What is the teacher trying to teach you? Something to keep in mind is to always to make sure that you can not only memorize the material, but be able to apply it and make conclusions based on it. Example: If they read a chapter about Mitosis; what are the steps of mitosis? What is mitosis? What is the conclusion of mitosis? How does it tie into Meiosis? Why is mitosis important? What is the teacher trying to teach you about Mitosis? Why did the teacher assign you this specific chapter? How does it relate to your life? What questions do you have about mitosis?

Finally, right before class starts, you need to make sure that you can not only memorize the material on your own, but also be able to memorize it under little time, tons of stress, and often times bad environments. You need to make sure you can memorize it while you’re hungry, excited, and even when you’re sad. You need to not only be able to memorize it with lots of stress and tons of things going on, but you also need to be able to learn to memorize it not just before class, but right before getting to your seat. This might be whilst driving, walking, talking to your friends, or on the bus.

IF you can do all this, then you can do all your homework last minute before class and still get 100%.
