Throwaway, because reasons.

All my life, I never wanted kids. I loved my childhood, but was never one to want to be a mother. I was an only child (parents finally got the girl after 4 miscarriages), and when I reached my late 20's, I knew that I was 110% certain that I didn't want children. I went to my doctor, and set up the appointment to get the procedure.

It was supposed to be the day before Valentine's Day of this year. I went to the hospital, as instructed, at 6:30 AM with my mother (I didn't want to be alone, and my boyfriend couldn't take off work) and was greeted by the nicest nurse. She was very eager to work with me, and made sure I was comfortable. I ended up being very comfortable, and she convinced me to donate my blood to help with a shortage that the hospital was going through.

I ended up donating a pint, and during the process, my heart rate went through the roof. I was sure it was normal, since I was nervous, but she assured me that it wasn't. She called for someone to come take a look, and ended up being rushed to the ER.

When I woke up, I was groggy, but I could hear my mother in the background arguing with someone. I have no idea what happened (I wasn't someone they could talk to), but I assume it was something with my insurance...which recently had ran out. With the help of a supervisor, she was able to get out of paying the bill.

I was told that my heart rate was so high that it was causing me to pass out. They had run several tests, and I was sure it was going to be something minor. That is, until they told me that my blood work had come back and it was positive for pregnancy.

I was confused. I was on birth control, and I had a period in January. I was assured that I was pregnant...and it was twins. I didn't want to believe it. I took a pregnancy test when I got home, and sure enough, it was positive. I was certain it was a mistake, but when I went to my doctor...it confirmed my fears.

I went back to the hospital with my boyfriend, and we were given an ultrasound. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen. The doctor told me that I was 8 weeks pregnant, but that I had a condition called retrograde menstruation. It's a condition where your period flows back up your fallopian tubes, and can cause false periods. It was the reason I was clueless...and would probably be having two babies this October.

We plan on keeping them, and we're doing our best to prepare. It's not what I wanted, but I'm not going to abort my own children. And I don't know if I could give them up after carrying them for nine months.

So to summarize: I went to the hospital to get my tubes tied, and ended up with two babies. It's going to be a long nine months, but I'm hoping for the best.
