Graduating with a degree in psychology, any chance of getting a promotion in the future? Or should I just listen to redpillers and drop out?

I'm in my first year of university, 18 years old, and currently studying psychology. I know this may not be the best major if I want to land a high paying job or a good career afterwards, but it's what I've always been passionate about. I've always been interested in the mind and behavior, ever since I was a kid, and I'd love to pursue my passion into a career. Unfortunately, my parents are being difficult and want me to study a science like chemistry, biology, physics, or a degree in law or medicine. Their minds are set on that, but I want to continue with my degree. I've heard a few times that it's a useless degree and that I'll end up working at Starbucks or something, or a desk job. This has upset me a lot and made me doubt my choice. I do have a part time job as an intern at a psychology clinic to gain experience in the field.
