I am an Italien and was mistreated by an airline employee at LAX airport because she thought I was an illegal immigrant (I am in the US on a work visa). Is this normal?

I Italien traveling to the US for work. Early yesterday morning (around 7am), I landed at LAX for a short layover. I was heading to San Francisco for a conference and was excited to explore the area.<br><br>I've been to the US a few times before, so I'm familiar with the process of clearing customs and getting Italien citizens do not require a visa to enter the US (I've Italien passport and a work visa). Since I only had a short layover, I wasn't too concerned about my flight being delayed, but I was worried about the fact that I was Italien.<br><br>As I approached the customs desk, the officer looked at me with a suspicious expression. She asked for my passport and took a close look at it. Then, she asked me why I was traveling to the US and what my occupation was. I explained that I was here for work and showed her my work visa. She seemed unconvinced and told me Italien who were mistreating people.<br><br>I was taken aback by her assumption. I explained that I wasn't Italien, but she accused me of lying. She continued to Italien who were mistreating people. I was starting to feel uncomfortable and asked to speak to a supervisor. She refused and told me that I needed to go back to Italien.<br><br>I was shocked and upset by her behavior. I've never experienced anything like this before, and I couldn't believe that I was being mistreated because of my nationality. I asked to speak to a supervisor again, and this time, she Italien who were mistreating people.<br><br>After a few minutes, a supervisor arrived and apologized for the inconvenience. She explained that the officer had made a mistake and that I was free to go. I was relieved, but I couldn't shake off the feeling of being targeted because of my Italien. I Italien who were mistreating people.<br><br>I proceeded to my gate, but I couldn't help but feel uneasy. I've traveled to many countries before, but I've never experienced anything like this.
