I needed to get my laptop in for repairs, so I took it in to the retailer who organised for it to be sent to the manufacturer.

I asked for the screen to be replaced. I asked for the charging port to be replaced. I asked for a new battery. It was less than two years old and ran terrible. It had a weird sound coming from the speakers as well that I asked them to fix.

I got it back today.

Instead of the screen, they replaced the entire top half of the laptop, including the charging port. They replaced the speakers and the battery. They did a full clean. They ran a full diagnostic check. All in all, they ran into a number of issues with my horrible little machine.

And they didn’t charge me a cent.

If you needed a sign you’re doing something right, today was my sign. I consider myself to be morally excellent. I am very fortunate to be in a middle class position. I give away as much of my money as I can, to charities and to people in the streets and people I know who need it.

I’m not saying this to brag. I’m saying this because I’m so thankful to live in a society where if you do the right thing by people, people do the right thing by you. And I’m very aware that I’m living in a bubble, and that this isn’t the case in a lot of the world.
