Not everybody can (or should) be minimalist.

I read a lot of comments from people saying they would love to live in a less cluttered house (or a tiny house), or live without car (or with only the basics) but they can't because of circumstances like having a big family, living in a dangerous neighborhood, having disabilities, etc...

I want to tell you that minimalism is not about cutting everything off. If you can't live without a car because you're a single parent with 3 kids working 8 hours a day, that's fine. If you can't live in a tiny house because you have 2 teenage boys that need their own rooms, it's okay.

Minimalism is about living with less. It's only about that. For some people it can be only about having less physical stuff and for some others it's living in a tiny house with the bare minimum, and both ways are fine. Minimalism is not about comparing yourself to others, it's not a contest about who can live with less. It's about you and only about you and your family and what you need, not what you want.

People with disabilities, big families, people living in dangerous areas or with very low income don't have to justify why they can't live in a micro house with only 50 items. You're already dealing with a lot of stuff and living with the basics is not something that you have to achieve. If you want a big house with a big backyard for your kids to grow up in a safe and healthy environment, you should go for it.

Minimalism is not for everybody, and some people will never achieve this lifestyle, and that's perfectly FINE.

Editing after 3k upvotes because I're really thankful for the love and I feel the need to explain something: \
I've been seeing a lot of comments saying things like "minimalism is not about having less. Minimalism is about consumerism" or " Minimalism is not about living with less. It's about living with better quality items" and I'd like to say that I respectfully disagree with that. Minimalism is about living with LESS: less items, less clutter, less consumerism, less waste. You can't be minimalist without living with LESS. Period. \
The minimalist movement is about living with less and it's not a trend. It's been around for hundreds of years.

Also, I want to mention something about this part: "Some people will never achieve this lifestyle, and that's perfectly FINE." \
I know some of you think I'm saying they will *never* achieve because this lifestyle is not for them but what I really meant was that because some people are dealing with a lot of stuff right now, they might not want to make big changes in their lives. But maybe in the future they will want to live differently.

Thank you so much for the love and thank you for the awards <3
