Even if you're a breeder that doesn't make you a good breeder.

I don't care if you've been doing this for **20** years, it doesn't make you a good breeder. You can have an amazing temperament and cuddly dogs, but disrespect and belittle anyone who isn't "like" you. Having a lot of experience can be wonderful, but it does not make you a good breeder. I don't care if you have 50 dogs and make millions off of every litter you produce. You can't just call yourself a good breeder because you've had dogs for years. If you have to go to bat with every single person that has a different opinion than you, you are not a good breeder.

If you're a breeder and you're making money off of dogs, you don't have dogs, you have livestock. If you're angry that you are being treated like that, then maybe you shouldn't be doing this. If you're in this for the money and the dogs, you're not a good breeder.

The number one thing **ALL** breeders should care about is the welfare of the dogs and the buyers. They should all be responsible breeders, no matter what breed, size or money you make. I don't care if **ALL** of your dogs are health tested and have champion bloodlines if you care more about making cash than the welfare of the dogs or the new owners. And I don't care if you don't make any money either. If you breed dogs, it comes with a big responsibility to do it correctly.

Responsible breeders care about keeping the breed standard accurate and up to date to make sure we don't have dogs who suffer from ***inbreeding*** or ***breeding defects***. They care about making sure that their dogs are going to new homes where they will be loved, cared for, fed correctly and treated like a family member. Responsible breeders are going to be honest with you from the very beginning about the good the bad and the ugly. They are going to make sure that the puppy you are picking is the correct fit for you and your family. They are going to want to be updated and **involved** in the life of the pup, that **they** produced because to them it's family. They are going to want you to **contact** them if any issues arise so they can offer **help**.

This is a great example of what I am talking about and I think it goes to show how a simple misunderstanding can escalate so quickly when both parties are so passionate about something. I don't know enough to call anyone out or point fingers. I just hope that we can all support each other in the long run, and make sure that we continue to do our job to the best of our ability.

We all need to support each other and be an open book. If you aren't a responsible breeder, you aren't a good breeder and you shouldn't be doing this. The worst part about this is that dogs suffer and ***die*** because of all of this.
