Is the "I'm not a gender studies professor" excuse valid?

The context is every other week or so there is a post from someone upset that their gender studies class is teaching them a pessimistic view of the world that makes them not want to live anymore.

It's always followed by tons of comments like "I'm not a gender studies professor so I can't rightfully comment on this, but I just want to say that this is all really concerning to me and I hope you get the help you need..."

I'm sure there are valid problems with gender studies classes, but every gender studies professor I know of takes a very critical stance on these suicidal ideologies. It seems to me that they are frustrated that they can't engage with these posts without sounding defensive, and so they are instead choosing not to engage.

It's frustrating to me, because this is a significant issue that needs to be addressed. A lack of help in the comments is one of the most frequent criticisms of these threads, but the people who are best equipped to help are choosing to describe themselves as unqualified instead of engaging with the problem.
