Letting a balloon go is not a bad thing for the environment

When a balloon is let go it goes so high that it pops and falls to earth in many many small pieces, eventually getting so small it’s considered micro plastic. In the ocean these are called micro beads and they are so small that zooplankton can eat them which is bad.

Why this isn’t a big deal:

- Micro beads are in your exfoliating shower gel and are way worse than balloons.
- What kills the zooplankton is that it can eat too many of the beads and they clog its digestive system. A single piece of a balloon isn’t going to do this, and if you think that after letting one go the piece of the balloon that lands in the water is going to be exactly what kills the one plankton that was going to cure cancer, then your s/o are way too high.

Tldr: You micro bead eating shower gel is what’s killing the planet, not letting go of balloons.

Edit: some people are saying it’s the actual balloon going into the stomach of an animal that kills it, not the micro beads. This is true but if you think the one balloon you let go of is going to be the one that lands fully inflated on the beach with no wind, rain, animal tampering, or water, then it’s disrespectful to people who actually believe in God to think you have that kind of faith.
