As a teacher I’m upset about the advice here

Hello everyone. I’m a high school teacher in Singapore, and I’m here because I agree that there is a need to problematise the school system.

But I want to problematise it in a completely different way. I’ve been reading this sub for a while, and I’m appalled by the low quality advice I see here. Nobody should ever listen to the advice here.

The problem with school is not the system itself, it’s the content. The content that we teach is outdated, useless, and low quality. It’s why a lot of people stop learning for a good part of their life after school.

If you listen to the advice here, you will become a low-quality person who is uneducated and unhelpful to society. If you want to live a good life, you should put in the effort to learn whatever it is you have to learn, because the school system is right: your job is to learn if you want to get a good job.

However, the school system is also wrong because what you learn is bullshit.

So this is what you should do: you should put in the effort to learn the useless shit that schools teach you in the most efficient manner possible, and then spend whatever free time you have to learn the good stuff. If you do this, you will succeed in school and in life.

The good stuff is whatever is necessary to survive in this dog-eat-dog capitalist world, and whatever is necessary to tear down this dog-eat-dog capitalist world.
