I let ChatGPT "help" me complete an open book test for college, and I got a 0 for that entire test

I'm a community college student, and I've had this class for a few months now. With a month and a half left until school's out, I was feeling burnt out and needed some motivation to get this test started. I open Google and use ChatGPT to get help with the first question.

I was taking my time, double checking, and triple checking that ChatGPT was doing it right. I get about 30 minutes from completing that test, and then, I get a message from turnitin that I plagiarized. I go to talk to my professor, and he tells me that it's not plagiarism, but academic dishonesty. I see a zero for that entire test, and I lose 30% of my grade.

I'm shocked. I have never let ChatGPT "help" me on any assignments in the past. I've always used ChatGPT purely for ideas, while completing my assignment on my own. I should have known better. I'm a little embarrassed. I will make sure to use only use ChatGPT purely for ideas and inspiration.
