What is the intended outcome of protesting?

I can't say that I've ever seen a protest achieve anything. You have a ton of people protesting, which disrupts businesses and people's daily lives. I get it, people are angry and passionate. But I don't see how this is an effective means to create change.<br><br>I honestly can't say I've ever seen a protest change the course of anything. It's just a bunch of angry people who end up barricaded by police.<br><br>What is the intended outcome of protesting?
