Hey guys. I’m relatively new to coding and I recently started reading around speed running.

A speedrunner speed runs a game or set of games, as fast as possible. So say you’re playing Zelda and you have to follow a certain route to the end of the game. There are no cheating involved, just exploiting game mechanics and making the best decisions you can to get through the game as fast as possible. There is speed running of video games, speed running of video game glitches, speed running of video game glitches glitches etc.

TLDR. The speed runner runs a game or set of games as fast as possible by exploiting game mechanics.

What does this have to do with coding? There are some speed runs that are so complex, that you have to speed run the code to get to the result as fast as possible.

I’m interested in exploring this a bit more and would love to get a feel for what this is like in real time without having to get a degree in computer science or speed running.

Hidden around the web are examples of speed running code, but does anyone know the name of this speed running code phenomenon? There are a lot of examples around, but it is hard to find a single resource to learn from.

I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know the name of this speed running code phenomenon? Or if there is a single resource where I can find examples of speed running code? And other information related to the subject?

Thanks!
