Hello all. The moderators of this sub, like the subject of economics itself, consist of people from a variety of political perspectives. We feel that it is not the proper place of this chamber to endorse candidates, or to allow campaign-related posts. On the other hand, we also feel that discussion of economic dimensions of the election, when done in an unbiased, academic fashion, may be of interest.

To that end, we will continue to permit posts and discussion of the following types, all of which are within our traditional remit, and all of which may shed light on the upcoming Presidential Election:

* Discussion of the candidates' policy proposals, to the extent that they are relevant to economics. We will remove any such discussion that appears to be centered on political endorsement or attack
* Discussion of polling, insofar as it relates to economic issues, or insofar as it discusses the polling industry as an industry
* Discussion of campaigning and advertising, again to the extent that they relate to economics
* Discussion of the expansion of voting access and the narrowing of that access, insofar as these subjects relate to economics
* Discussion of the economics of democracy, of public choice, and of the theory of political competition

We will continue to exclude content that we deem to have as its primary purpose the endorsement or opposing of candidates for political office, and will continue to exclude content that appears to serve primarily as an attack on political opponents.

We will also continue to exclude "US politics" content whose connection to economics is incidental.

Thanks in advance.

\---

Edit: I should have added that mod-approved Megathreads will all be Quaratine-level until after the election.
