Found out my SIL will be the surrogate for my brother and his wife. No one talks about how much surrogates are paid.

Sorry guys, I have no clue where else to post this. I’m childfree but definitely pro-choice and pro-women.
My SIL (27) is having a hard time financially and medical comorbidities make it risky for my sister in law to be the surrogate. My brother and SIL are financially secure, and they will be purchasing the eggs, paying for all insurance and medical bills, paying for a surrogate and paying for an agency, which is going to cost them upwards of $120,000 for the whole process. I’m definitely sympathetic to them, however, my sister in law will have a hard time paying her bills, working less, and paying for medical bills and insurance for her surrogate. We already know my SIL will miscarry, and my BIL/SIL will pay for her medical bills but I am still worried how much money she will have to pay out of pocket for insurance and the agencies involved.

I don’t know if the money she’s going to get is going to be enough, especially if she miscarries and has to go through medical bills. BIL/SIL said they definitely want a child badly, however, I am worried she’s going to have a hard time affording to be a surrogate without them paying for any of her medical bills that arise during the process. I do think my SIL should be paid more considering BIL/SIL are wealthy and definitely want a child badly.

It makes me feel bad knowing that my SIL is doing this to be able to pay for her bills and won’t be able to work much during the process.
Is anyone else familiar with the surrogacy process?
