Can anyone confirm or deny if Walmart is using a false security guard to stop shoplifters?

I’ve heard from a few people that Walmart has a fake security guard who is there to stop shoplifters. He doesn’t have a badge, doesn’t let people know he’s security until AFTER they walk out w/o paying for merchandise, and does NOT write citations or call the police at all. He simply makes you give the merchandise back and go on your merry way. He’s very smart w/ this method bc he knows if he is false he cannot w/hold anybody bc he’s not a real guard. He doesn’t care bc he knows that he doesn’t have to w/hold anyone, he only needs to get the merchandise back, which saves Walmart money bc they wnt lose product. He’s smart w/ this method also bc he knows if you’re shoplifting, you’re likely scared to death already, so he knows you’re not going to try to sue walmarts b.s. fake security guard. He knows w/ this method, he’s doing everything by the book. I’ve heard he’s only w/holding merchandise and not the shoplifter. if he holds the merchandise, w/holds the shoplifter, calls the police, writes a citation, anything else outside of only w/holding the merchandise, Walmart can lose the cash value of the stolen goods, on top of paying the legal fees. Walmart looses tons of money. I’m sure at least one person on here has been stopped by this false security guard, and if w/holding merchandise is all he did, that’s a smart idea. I’m not judging w/e way bc I’ve shoplifted my fair share in walmarts when I was young. But, if they’re doing this w/holding merchandise, its smart idea.
