How do you learn a language and keep your career?

I have a busy 8 to 5 job in IT and I'm finding it really hard to learn Portuguese, even if I have spent every Saturday and Sunday studying it. I'm in my late 20s. If I had 8 hours a day I would be fluent in a few months, but it's not possible. I'm not 17 years old anymore when I could spend 6 hours a day speaking with my girlfriends and 8 hours a day playing volleyball. I am starting to think that the only way to learn a language is to be young, not working or extremely rich. 8 hours a day is not even enough to be fluent, it takes 8 hours a day of consistent practice for a few years, and I don't have time for that. I feel like I wasted my youth. If I had started in my teenage years I would be fluent now, but I didn't know back then.
