I grew up in a hunting family and grew up around guns. I used to hunt ducks and geese, and we’d occasionally go deer hunting as well. I had some really awesome experiences.

I stopped hunting and started questioning my relationship with guns at all around 2016. I had mostly stopped by that point, I think I went once or twice after that but had mostly already stopped by that point.

From 2016 on I started selling off my guns and using the money for other hobbies, and eventually I gave my last gun to my brother.

I’ve mostly been an anti gun person since then. It’s hard for me to understand people’s attachment to them, and it seems like there are a lot of negative outcomes. I do understand the argument about wanting to protect yourself, but logic also tells me that the more guns there are, the more guns will be used to commit crimes. I don’t think all guns should be banned or anything (at least I don’t think that YET), but it seems reasonable that there should be a lot more oversight and regulations.

Any other former hunters here? I’m curious to hear people’s experiences and opinions!
