How would you all apologize to your children if it came out that you lied about it being okay to sleep at night?

Let's assume that all parents knew the truth. Things like "monsters under the bed" and "boogey men" are real. It was an unspoken agreement between all parents to tell their kids that everything is okay so they could get some sleep and not be afraid. How would you parents apologize to your kids?<br><br>I'd probably just apologize and say that I was just trying to help them get some sleep so I can get some rest too. I'd also make sure to tell them not to tell other kids or younger siblings so they don't ruin the experience for them too.
