What does it mean to be a "real man"?

I've always been a little confused on what constitutes a "real man." For the longest time, I assumed a real man was a guy who worked, went fishing, hunted, road dirt bikes, played sports, watch football, and did other traditionally masculine things like that. In some ways, I felt like I couldn't live up to those standards. I've never liked most traditionally masculine activities and the hobbies I have aren't all that traditionally masculine. I've always been a bit of a bookworm who likes reading, writing, playing board games, playing video games, etc. I've really appreciated the term "real man" because it's given me a sense of self-worth.

But then I read an article on a feminist website saying that traditional ideas of masculinity are at odds with progressive ideals, and that "real men" are archaic and regressive.

I don't know what to think now.
