I have a new game I will be playing, and I will call it the "Game of Conifers."

When I have a moment of peace, I will look around me and imagine that any place without a conifer is a terrible place to be. I will convince myself that this is a barren wasteland, and that I am living in a "dead" place. Any place with a conifer is safe, and without a conifer, I am in danger of the "Great Heat" and the "Great Cold." I will think "oh no! I hope that a conifer is close, so I can be safe from the terrible weather!" Never mind, of course, that it never actually snows in my area, and I only have two weeks a year that are what most would call "hot." I will convince myself that my survival and my life depend on a conifer being near. If I am at a store and I see a conifer out front, I will think "oh! There must be a safe place inside the store!" If I see a branch from a conifer on the ground, I will think "oh no! The conifers are trying to warn me that the safe place is in danger! I must get inside the safe place before it's too late!" I will imagine little "monsters" that are tiny, but have big teeth and sharp claws that try to push the conifers out of the way so they can get to me. If I see little kids playing outside, I will imagine them as "guardians" of the conifers, and that they are playing a game of "tag" with the "monsters" to try and keep them away from me, so I can be safe with "my conifers."
